7 Tips to Know that FUE Hair Transplant Isn’t Hard

FUE Dubai

Hair loss treatments have been around for decades. Some of them are more effective than others. However, one permanent hair loss treatment trusted by all doctors is a hair transplant. Different techniques are used for hair transplantation, but two techniques are most commonly used. These include Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) or Follicular Unit Extraction or Follicular Unit Excision (FUE). Both methods are FDA-approved, therefore, safe and effective. But still, of the two techniques, FUE Dubai is the preferred one. Although a hair transplant surgeon determines the transplantation technique, most patients prefer FUE transplant.

In this article, we have shared some useful tips by comparing FUE with FUT. Keep reading to learn how the FUE technique is the easier one.

Difference between FUE and FUT

Both techniques differ in several aspects. Some reasons include the difference between the procedure as well as scarring. Moreover, a smaller team is enough to carry out an FUE transplant. On the other hand, an expert surgeon is required, along with a specialized team to perform a FUT transplant. The chances of complications in FUT are higher than in FUE. Therefore, it requires more careful precision.

Below we have shared some tips to show how FUE is easier than FUT.

  • Procedure

The procedure of both FUE and FUT differs considerably.

In FUE Dubai, the surgeon extracts every single follicular unit individually from the donor site. He/she doesn’t remove a strip of skin to extract follicles one-by-one. Different sizes of punches are used for extracting hair follicles. Usually, these punches are tiny in size due to which they leave minimal scars. These scars are hardly visible and heal quickly.

On the other hand, a FUT transplant involves cutting out a linear strip of skin from the donor site. Then, the surgeon skillfully extracts hair follicles from the strip. FUT is preferred for patients with progressive hair loss. It allows the surgeon to extract the maximum number of hair grafts. Unlike FUE, FUT requires stitching the donor site, which leaves a scar.

  • Shaving

Some form of shaving is involved in FUE and FUT hair transplantation both.

In FUT, the surgeon will shave or trim the area from where the follicles have to be extracted.

On the other hand, in FUE, usually, the entire scalp has to be shaved. It is because the follicles are extracted from different parts of the scalp.

  • Scarring

Scarring is inevitable in hair transplants, but the type of scarring is different.

In FUT, scarring is more prominent due to a thin and linear cut at the donor site. This cut is sutured, which leaves a long and linear scar at the backside of the scalp. If you don’t like long hair, FUT is not a suitable procedure for you. You will have to keep a long haircut for hiding the long scar at the donor site.

The FUE technique is preferred mainly because it doesn’t leave a prominent scar. Since the hair follicles extracted one by one, the scarring is minimal. In this technique, small punches of about 1mm are used to extract hair grafts. It leaves tiny scars that turn into scabs within a few days and heal on their own.

  • Pain and Discomfort

The level of pain and discomfort during and after the surgery differs in FUE and FUT techniques.

During the FUT procedure, due to cutting a skin strip, the pain level is higher than FUE. However, the patient doesn’t feel any pain during the procedure due to anesthesia. After the procedure, it is mandatory to follow post-op instructions because the chances of complications are higher. Moreover, since the scar is sutured, it will also cause discomfort until entirely healed.

On the other hand, an FUE hair transplant doesn’t require any stitches or cause scarring. As a result, the level of pain is much lower than in FUT. The healing is also quicker, and there are lesser post-op guidelines to be followed.

  • Number of Grafts

The grafts yield in FUE is lower than FUT. It is due to the fact that it is only possible to extract a limited number of grafts in one session. So, for extracting more grafts, more sessions will be needed. In FUT, the number of extracted grafts is maximum.

Moreover, in FUE, sometimes, the grafts don’t survive during extraction. The punch used for extraction can damage the grafts. However, in FUT, the grafts can survive better.

  • Cost

FUE is expensive than FUT. It is because the grafts are individually extracted, making FUE a time taking procedure. On the other hand, extracting grafts from the skin strip in FUT hair loss treatment is not time-consuming.

The FUE technique also requires a skilled surgeon, along with a specialized team. It makes the procedure cost more than FUT.

  • Recovery Period

The recovery period of FUE Dubai is much less than FUT. FUT is more invasive and has a more extended, discomforting recovery period. On the other hand, FUE requires minimal downtime and causes the least amount of pain. The overall recovery period in FUE is uneventful.

In FUT, scarring is also expected, and the stitches need time to heal. Due to this, redness, soreness, and pain at the incision site are common. Moreover, the risk of infection is much higher in FUT than in FUE.
