Hair thinning or hair loss is a common problem all over the globe. People feel inferior, less confident and discounted with a bald scalp. Hair transplant is an ideal solution in such situations. Although people generally know that hair transplant gives back the lost hair, most of them do not know the process well enough. Some questions they may want to ask before making a decision about hair transplant are:

1.       What is hair transplant and how does it help?

Hair transplant is a cosmetic surgery solution to baldness. It picks hair follicles from sides or back of the head and implants them into the balding site. Although hair around the treated area may fall out, transplanted hairs are always permanent.

2.       Can I benefit from hair transplant?

Anyone who has bald patches on head must benefit from hair transplant. Women, who do not have baldness rather an overall thinning of hair, are not suitable for hair transplant. But if you are a woman and you have lost your hair for reasons other than hormonal, you can avail hair transplant.

3.       Which technique should I choose?

Follicular unit extraction is suitable for all patients who qualify for hair transplant. It is good for those people who tend to keep small hair, shave their heads or are prone to hypertrophic scars.

Strip technique is often used for moustache and eyebrow transplant. It is good for patients who have tight skin.

4.       Do the transplanted hairs look natural?

New hair looks absolutely natural. Hair transplant is not suggested at a young age. This is the reason behind its natural results. Moreover, people who are currently losing their hair are not suitable candidates for hair transplant. If hair transplant is done at an early age or when patient is losing hair it would make irregular balding patterns on head.

5.       Does hair transplant surgery hurt?

Local anesthesia is used at donor and recipient sites. Patients do not feel pain. Although you may experience some discomfort and pain afterwards. Surgeons recommend pain killers to relive it.
