Most Suitable Option for Hair Transplant

Most Suitable Option for Hair Transplant

FUE (follicular unit extraction) hair transplantation is a modern method to extract donor hair follicles from the donor area. Although, it has been around for many years, it is only past few years when it has become popular among masses. Let us examine why it is the suitable option for hair transplant according to both the surgeons as well as the patients.

A hair transplant is redistribution of our existing hair. Although, all hair on our head looks same, they differ with respect to some basic characteristics. We can classify our head hair into two categories: balding prone and balding resistant. Hairs at the front and upper portion, known as hairline and crown respectively, are delicate. They are often affected by genetic and environmental cause, and tend to fall quickly. On the other hand, hairs at the sides and back of our head are tough. They are not affected by genetic and environmental reasons and stay at our head for a long time.

When a person faces hair loss, it starts with a receded hairline and a thinning crown while sides and back of his head remain unaffected. Hair transplant makes best use of these balding resistant hairs on the sides and back of our head. It extracts them form balding resistant areas, and plants them at the balding area.

Popular Hair Transplant techniques:

Strip harvesting or Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) are the two most commonly used techniques for surgical hair restoration. Many transplantation methods have become obsolete now, but one alternative still remains in the form of strip removal method. FUE differs from these older methods in the way it extracts donor hair from the donor area without involving any cutting or stitching of the scalp. Let us see how FUE extracts donor hair, and how does it compare to strip removal method.

How FUE works?

FUE transplantation extracts each individual hair follicle one by one. It uses a small tool, less than 1 millimeter in diameter, to make a tiny punch around hair follicle and extract it from its place. It means that the surgeon has to make at least one punch to extract one hair follicle. Read the following 5 reasons to choose FUE hair transplant in Dubai.

How FUT works?

Strip removal transplantation uses a different method than FUE. In this method, the surgeon removes a linear strip of skin from the donor area (usually back of the scalp). This strip contains thousands of hair follicles. The technical staff dissects the strip under stereo microscopes to separate hair follicles for implantation. This is a quick alternative to FUE, especially useful when a large number of hair follicles need to be extracted.

Despite the fact that strip removal method costs less and offers comparable, FUE is still most popular hair transplant technique in Dubai.

  1. You Don’t Like Cutting Your Scalp

As stated above, traditional strip removal technique of hair transplant extracts a strip from the back of your head. Does extracting your scalp seem awful? Fortunately, you have an alternative. FUE technique does not extract your scalp. FUE only extracts desired hair follicles without causing major damage to the scalp. As far as the results are concerned, both methods produce good results. However, if you choose strip removal technique, you are advised NOT to see pictures or videos of strip removal technique before your procedure.

  1. You Want to Get Back to Work “Quickly”

Life is very busy nowadays. Gone are the days when we were able to afford weeks off from work. If you want to resume your work quickly, choose FUE. With tiny wounds, one day rest would be enough to resume your work. However, concealing your hair transplant is important concern whether you use FUE or strip removal technique. You will have to use hat or other physical means to hide your head. Please beware that use of hair loss concealers like Toppees is not recommended for the first 7-10 day after the surgery.

  1. Want Only Few Hair for Your Transplant

If you want only few hairs for your transplant, you should certainly choose FUE. There are many situations where you may need small number of hairs. You may have minor hair loss to cover, or you want to reconstruct your eyebrows or eyelashes. In such cases, you may need only few hundred hairs. FUE is the preferred procedure in all these cases.

  1. Want to Cover Previous Surgery Scars

Many people use FUE technique to cover scars caused by previous strip removal hair transplant. Another strip removal procedure cannot be used because it will create another scar. In addition to hair transplant scars, FUE is used to cover scars caused by other surgeries or injuries.

  1. Want to Use Body Hair

Do you have few hair and large bald area on your head? Do not worry! FUE technique can extract hair from your body areas like beard, chest, and legs, and transplant them right into your scalp. FUE is the only technique to overcome limited donor hair supply issue.

Having that said, it is pertinent to mention here that you should sit down with your doctor and discuss the pros and cons of every method according to your specific circumstances before finalizing one.
