How Long Does the FUE Procedure Take?

Follicular Unit Extraction aka FUE Hair Transplant is a modern hair restoration technique that is characterized by individual extraction of donor grafts from the scalp or any other part of the body. This hair transplantation has been around for almost a decade now but it has become popular among masses over the last few years.
Unlike the conventional strip method hair transplant, in which the surgeon removes a linear strip of skin with hair follicles from the back or side of the scalp, FUE involves individual extraction of donor hairs. Despite the fact that the former costs less and offers almost similar results, the latter is becoming popular with every single passing day. Read the 5 reasons below to know why people in Dubai prefer FUE over FUT:
Strip Method Transplant involves surgical removal of a linear strip from the donor site – at the back or side of the scalp. The scalp is then stitched back while the strip is dissected under a powerful microscope to separate follicular grafts to be implanted on the bald or thinning areas. If cutting and stitching the scalp sounds awful to you, FUE may be the right choice for you. This donor hair extraction technique only plucks desired hair follicles from the donor area, while leaving the rest of the scalp intact.
If you cannot afford weeks off from work or do not like the idea of staying bed ridden for several weeks after a hair transplant, choose FUE Hair Transplant. The wound caused by strip removal in case of FUT hair transplant can keep you bed ridden for 7 to 10 days. Whereas, the microscopic wounds caused by direct extraction of hair follicles take hardy 2 to 3 days to heal and after that, you can resume all of the non-strenuous routine activities, including work. Having that said, hiding the symptoms of a hair transplant may remain a concern for you. You can simply use a hat or any other physical means of your choice to cover your freshly treated scalp. However, avoid using wigs and toppy other hairpieces for at least a couple of week following the surgery, regardless of which technique you have opted for.
If your hair loss is hardly noticeable or you want hair transplantation in localized areas, such as beard, mustaches, goatee, cheeks or sideburns, FUE hair transplant is the right choice. There are many situations when a very small number of donor’s hairs are required for a fuller appearance. Strip method transplantation does not cater such cases. However, with Follicular Unit Extraction, you can enhance and reconstruct eyebrows and eyelashes as well. The surgeon will simply extract the required amount of follicles from the back or sides of the scalp and transplant them into the desired areas.
If you have already undergone Follicular Unit Transplant and now want to cover the resulting linear scar, FUE hair transplant can help you camouflage the telltale scar. Hair follicles will be simply extracted from a new donor site and transplanted into the scar to fill the patch. Surgeons also use FUE technique to fix an initial bad hair transplant; since you cannot undergo another FUT hair transplant to fix a bad strip method transplant, as it will result in another linear scar on the scalp.
If your scalp does not have a good donor hair supply, worry not. FUE technique allows the surgeon to extract donor hair from the body and transplant them into the areas on the scalp that have gone bald or have significant hair thinning. Common donor areas on the body include your chest, thighs, and beard. Limited donor hair supply has been a serious cause of concern for both the surgeons as well as the patients before FUE hair transplant was introduced.
