Over the last couple of decades there was less demand for facial hair, mustaches and beards, but now they are making a comeback as people are considering them as a way to look trendy.
Moustache is a sign of virility and masculinity. It has been said that the mustache makes the men. But Mustache looks good only when thick and healthy. With the revival of mustache demand for facial hair transplantation has also increased considerably. While most people naturally have thick and healthy mustaches, there are many whose mustaches don’t grow and they are always found searching ways to have one as a sign of masculinity.
Dubai and Turkey are two favorite destinations for mustache transplant seekers. People form middle east, Europe, and Asia travel to Dubai and Turkey to get Mustache hair transplanted. “People come to us from Arab countries, Asia, and Europe for facial hair transplants,” told Dr. Juan Tadeo, a Dubai based cosmetic surgeon and hair transplant expert.
The procedure used for mustache transplant is same as that for scalp hair transplant. Since a small number of grafts are required for mustaches, Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplant is typically used for mustache transplantation. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia without sedation and normally takes 3 to 5 hours, but this may be more or less depending upon the number of grafts required and the size of the area that needs hair transplantation.
Surgeon extracts hair follicles individually form hairy areas of the body, generally the back of the scalp, and transplants it into the area above the upper lip. The surgeon can extract hair from other body parts as well.
The cost of the procedure varies considerably from one person to another, depending upon the extent of hair loss and the texture and type of donor hairs. Some people just need to thicken their moustache, while others want to cover the mustache hair loss. For the former, this can be done with few hundred hairs, while for the latter thousands of hair grafts may be needed.
Like scalp hair transplantation, mustache restoration is also charged based on the number of grafts. Based on the number of follicles to be transplanted and the desired aesthetic goals of the individual, mustache transplant in Dubai can cost from few hundred Arab Emirate Dirhams to several thousand Arab Emirate Dirhams.
