Top 10 Hair Care Tips you Should Know

Agree or not but your hair and self-image go side by side. Your hairs define your identity – the color, texture, and length of your hair all show the world a piece of who exactly you are. Dry, fragile hairs describe you as a dull and dejected person, while thick, bouncy hairs depict a lively and vibrant personality. So, if you want to look robust and youthful, besides skin focus on your hair as well. Here are some hair care tips that you should know and follow to keep your hair thick and strong.

Prevent your hair from the heatwave

The heat from hairdryer and other hair styling tools does more damage than the benefit. It is always recommended to let your hair air dry. If necessary, avoid using the hottest setting on the blow dryer as heat from the dryer not only evaporates excess water but also deprives them of natural moisture. Always opt for the lowest setting on the dryer and hold it six to eight inches away from your strands. Also, point the hair flow towards the tips and not to the scalp.

Trim your long locks regularly

If you have long tresses, trim them frequently to avoid split ends. Trim your locks every six to eight weeks and see them growing thick and healthy. Also, condition your hair to prevent them from hydrated and frizz-free.

Be gentle to your hair

Your hairs are very delicate so treat them gently. Use a natural-bristle brush to untangle your hair. It is soft and more flexible and thus will not damage your hair like synthetic combs. Your hairs are even more delicate and fragile when wet so avoid brushing wet hair until they are almost dry. Also, avoid rubbing wet hair with a towel.

Revive your natural curls

If your hairs are naturally curly and you wish to revive their curls, spritz a dry shampoo into your hair and run your fingers through as if you are trying to tie them up in a ponytail. This will help revive the natural curls.

Break bad habits

Several habits of yours damage your hair big time – despite having no apparent connection with the hairs. These include stress, anxiety, smoking, and poor eating and sleeping patterns. Stress for a long time not only makes your hair dull but may also cause them to fall out in the long run. The same is the case with bad eating habits and lack of sleep.

Shampoo less:

There is a common misconception that shampooing your hair daily is the trick to smooth, silky, oil-free locks. But shampooing your hair quite often deprives them of their natural oils, leaving your hair dry and more prone to breakage. For best results shampoo your hair twice a week, and if you have got oily skin shampoo the locks every other day, but avoid exposing them to chemicals daily. Also, don’t forget to condition your hair every time you shampoo them.

Condition your hair properly:

Conditioning your hair regularly and properly is essential for keeping hair smooth and silky. Buy a conditioner that suits your hair type. After shampooing your hair apply conditioner from mid-lengths to the tips of hair shafts. Distribute it evenly through your hair using a wide-toothed comb and leave it on for 3 to 5 minutes and then rinse your hair thoroughly making sure there is no conditioner leftover.

Deep condition hair at home:

If your hairs are really dry, deep conditioning may work. To deep condition hair at home apply your favorite conditioner to clean, damp hair and cover them with a shower cap for half an hour before rinsing it off. Remove conditioner from your hair with cold water and let them air dry. This will help seal the cuticles, preventing the moisture from entering the hair follicles, which actually causes hair to become frizzy.

Use hair styling tools wisely:

Heat from hair styling tools is the most common cause of hair damage. If necessary to straighten or curl your hair, start by applying an anti-frizz serum to the hair to create a moisture barrier and prevent them from heat damage.

Protein treatment at home

Repair your damaged hair with protein treatment at home. Start by massaging your hair with olive oil. Then thoroughly beat 1 or 2 eggs, depending on the length of your hair, and apply it to your hair, starting from the tips to the roots. Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes and then shampoo as usual. Repeat this once every week for a couple of months and your hair will feel healthier and strong.
