Hair loss is a common issue and both genders are equally affected by it nowadays. Several factors contribute in causing hair loss like poor hygiene of scalp, not massaging hair with oil, eating the unhealthy foods, consumption of certain medications, drinking less water and liquids etc.
Everybody loses almost 100 hair strands every day but it’s nothing to worry about. If you are spotting more shed hair either in your brush, during the shower or in your hands. Then it’s the earliest signs of your alopecia.
There are numerous types of alopecia, like:
Involutional Alopecia· What is Involutional Alopecia?Involutional Alopecia is your hair thinning as a part of your natural aging process.
· Cause:It happens when your hair regrowth phase (anagen) is shortened and your hair spends more time in the shedding (Telogen) or resting (catagen) phases.
· Treatment:Consumption of healthy food that contains essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals can cure Involutional Alopecia. |
Androgenic Alopecia· What is Androgenic Alopecia?Androgenic Alopecia is a most common genetic and age-related type.
It’s referred to both female and male pattern baldness.
Male pattern baldness can be determined by the help of Hamilton-Norwood scale and the female pattern baldness can be mapped according to the Ludwig scale.
· Cause:Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is the hormone which causes hair loss. DHT hormone binds to the androgen receptor in your hair follicles, causing your hair to shrink and eventually your hair will stop re-growing.
· Treatments:Androgenic Alopecia is genetically inherited and is incurable. Intake of nutritional supplements or certain medications can slow down or even stop hair loss, but the benefit is only maintained for as long as the treatment is used. |
If you are young then you are very lucky because your hair regrows itself quickly by entering into the anagen phase. But as you get older, the percentage of re-growing hair drops over time, and your hair will not be replaced with new ones like when you were young.
That’s the reason, some people are unable to grow their hair as long as they want to in their old age.
Treatment options for these two types of alopecia vary for both genders, men, and women. That how extensive your hair thinning or hair loss is and what are your long-term goals related to your hair.
If you are noticing your hair thinning or hair loss then it’s always a good idea to visit a trichologist in time. So that he would evaluate your hair loss treatments in time before it becomes a severe hair loss problem.
Arrange an appointment with the trichologist at the hair transplant clinic. He will examine your scalp, then the trichologist will tell you your scalp condition, hair loss severity and will tell you that which type of hair loss you are suffering either its Involutional Alopecia or Androgenic Alopecia.
According to your gender and the type of your alopecia, the trichologist will recommend you a suitable alopecia treatment.
