1.      Male Pattern Baldness:

Male pattern baldness has following stages:

·         Stage 1:

In stage 1, the hairline will start declining.

·         Stage 2:

In stage 2, a change occurs to the hairline region. Very mild hair loss begins to appear at the front part of the hairline.

·         Stage 3:

Early signs of hair loss are noticeable in stage 3, as the hairline starts to recede at the temples.

·         Stage 4:

In stage 4, the hairline is prominently receding from the front parts of the temples and the forehead. Increased hair loss at the crown region also starts in stage 4.

·         Stage 5:

Hair loss becomes more severe and crown begins to appear due to hair thinning.

·         Stage 6:

Only few hair follicles are left on the head in stage 6. And a horseshoe shape around a bald patch in the center of the scalp begins to appear.

·         Stage 7:

It’s the most advanced stage of hair loss and in this stage, only sparse hair remains at the back and sides of the head.

2.      Female Pattern Hair Loss:

Following are the symptoms of Female Pattern hair loss:

  • Thinning of hair starts on the top and crown of the scalp. And widening of the center part of a hair is experienced.
  • The hairline doesn’t recede.
  • The hair loss gradually progresses to complete baldness, as it occurs in men

3.      Alopecia Areata:

Following are the different types of alopecia areata:

  • Congenital alopecia
  • Symptomatic alopecia
  • Seborrhoea alopecia
  • Cicatricle alopecia
  • Premature alopecia.

·         Congenital Alopecia:

It’s a relatively rare form of hair loss. It is characterized by the full absence or the drastic thinning of hair that can be combined with the other disorders which include deterioration of nails, teeth, etc.

·         Premature alopecia:

It occurs in women and it is generally limited to just thinning of hair. Hair fall begins in the frontal and parietal areas. And it grasps other regions of the scalp too.

·         Seborrhoea alopecia:

As the name describes itself that hair fall develops on the background of seborrhoea. It’s marked with the abnormal sebaceous excretions and hair thinning on the entire surface of the scalp.

·         Cicatricle alopecia:

Constant damage of hair follicles and its replacement by the connecting tissues occur in it. It’s not very much visible as in the case of healing wounds. It results in the disappearance of holes of hair follicles and the scalp becomes smooth.

·         Symptomatic alopecia:

Hair loss occurs on several small regions of the scalp, underarms, on the pubis, beard, eyelashes or eyebrows. Such hair loss areas have round outlines, they can increase and also can merge among themselves forming larger spots.

 

4.      Alopecia Totalis:

Alopecia Totalis is an autoimmune condition and its caused when your immune system mistakenly turns against your hair follicles and following are the early signs of Alopecia Totalis:

  • hair loss from all over the scalp
  • facial hair like eyebrows and eyelashes begin to fall out
  • Nails become brittle and thin.

5.      Alopecia Universalis:

Alopecia Universalis is different from the alopecia areata and alopecia totalis in the following ways:

  • Total loss of hair from all over the body
  • nails get damaged

6.      Telogen Effluvium:

Telogen effluvium is caused by the excessive stress or shock and symptoms include:

  • Excessive hair shedding due to stress
  • thinning of hair
  • The whole scalp isn’t affected by this type of hair loss

7.      Diffuse Hair Loss | Chronic Telogen Effluvium:

Mostly women get affected and the signs of diffuse hair loss are:

  • excessive hair loss
  • overall hair thinning

8.      Traction Alopecia:

Traction alopecia is caused due to tight hair up-dos or hair extensions and it displays as:

  • hair loss around the hairline and temples
  • Bald patches are formed on the affected areas by the weighty hair extensions, tight braids or bun.

9.      Trichotillomania:

A person who has trichotillomania disorder has an irresistible urge to pull out his hair including his eyebrows, eyelashes and scalp hair. Symptoms of trichotillomania are:

  • pulling out hair from the hair-bearing areas
  • Twisting your hair

10.  Follicular Degeneration Syndrome:

It’s a form of scarring alopecia and its signs are:

  • a well-defined patch of hair loss
  • bald patch begins from the vertex or crown of the scalp
  • The affected areas may expand with the passage of time.

11.  Pseudopelade:

It’s an extremely rare hair loss condition but when it affects women and children then it shows its symptoms by following:

  • The expansion of well-defined patches of hair loss
  • patchy hair loss may damage the scalp

12.  Lupus:

Lupus is caused by the inflammation of multiple organs like joints, kidneys, heart, lungs, blood vessels and brain which eventually leads to hair fall. Following are the early signs of lupus:
