Extracellular Matrix (ECM) – Advanced treatments for hair loss

Extracellular Matrix-hair-loss

While hair transplant is without any doubt the best solution for permanent hair loss, people are often reluctant to opt for it, after all it is a surgical procedure. If you are also reluctant to undergo surgical hair restoration, but at the same time you are eager to get rid of hair loss, then you have come to the right place. We have an absolutely non-surgical, non-invasive alternative for you in ACell’s Extracellular Matrix (ECM). It is an advanced non-surgical treatment for hair loss which has proven its efficacy in treating almost all types of hair loss, including Androgenic Alopecia, aka Male Pattern Baldness.

What is Extracellular Matrix?

In biology, Extracellular Matrix refers to the collection of non-cellular components present within all cells and tissues, which provides structural and biochemical support to the surrounding cells and tissues. The Extracellular Matrix used for hair loss is a wound healing material that increases scalp circulation and helps stimulate adult stem cells. This ultimately triggers healthy hair growth, allowing for hair restoration in the areas with significant hair thinning.

ACell’s Extracellular Matrix:

The FDA-approved Extracellular Matrix used for treating hair loss is ACell. It is a naturally occurring protein available in powdered form. To inject it into the scalp, the surgeon first mixes it with the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). Now wondering what is this PRP thing? It is blood plasma that is rich in platelets – a natural source of growth factors and cytokines, which are best known for healing of wounds and soft tissues. ACell strengthens androgenically miniaturized follicles whereas PRP stimulates adult stem cells to trigger healthy hair growth.

How ACell/PRP treatment for hair loss work?

PRP is obtained by centrifuging patient’s blood sample in a special apparatus. Powdered ACell is mixed with the PRP solution and then injected into already numbed scalp. Topical anesthetic is applied to the scalp for 30-45 minutes before the procedure. This makes injecting ACell/PRP mixture into the scalp a virtually painless process. The mixture is administered into the entire scalp, while special attention is paid to the problem areas.

What to expect after Extracellular Matrix Treatment?

Once the desired amount of mixture has been administered, the physician gently massages the scalp to ensure its even distribution. You will not be allowed to wash scalp for 18-24 hours. After that you can wash and shampoo hair as usual. Also avoid direct sunlight exposure for a few weeks. No additional care is needed after the treatment. This advanced treatment for hair loss takes 8 to 12 months before you will be able to see the outcome.
