Facial hair has always been associated with masculinity and maturity of a man. While having a thick beard and lush mustaches leave a strong impact, some men are unable to grow stubble, due to various reasons but primarily genetics. But in this day of technology, your genes or any other factor should not stop you from sporting a full, burly hipster. Hair transplant in Dubai is no more confined to only to head, and facial hair transplants are also being performed successfully to help men look more masculine and dominating. A facial hair transplant includes anything from mustaches to goatee, sideburns and full beard. But there are few things you need to know about facial hair transplant before heading to a hair restoration clinic. Knowing all this will help you have some realistic expectations about facial hair restoration.

  1. It is no different than a hair transplant:

Facial hair transplant is a process very similar to the traditional hair transplant performed on the head. The surgeon harvests healthy, balding resistant hair follicles from the rear of the scalp and transplants them into the areas of need on your face.

  1. You should have enough donor hair:

Your candidacy for a facial hair transplant depends primarily on donor hair supply. To be a candidate for surgical hair restoration, you should sufficient donor hair to fill the bare patches in your beard or mustaches. If you are already a hair loss patient, with severe baldness, you may not have enough healthy hair for facial transplantation. But Body Hair Transplantation has addressed this problem to some extent.

  1. Both scalp and body hair can be used:

It is the job of your surgeon to decide hairs on which part of the body offer the closest substitute. Most of the times it is rear of the scalp, but your doctor can harvest donor grafts from the chest area, back or thighs depending upon hairs from which part match the most in color and texture.

  1. Both FUE and FUT techniques can be used:

If you need just a few hundred grafts for transplantation, your surgeon may recommend you to opt for FUE technique, as it is minimally invasive and does not leave behind any scar. However, if you need over 1500 grafts, even strip removal method can be used for graft extraction. But it is also on your surgeon’s discretion which technique he feels will be suitable for you.

  1. New hair will not grow overnight:

Like a hair transplant performed on the scalp, facial transplantation is also a time-taking process that takes several months before exhibiting any signs of improvement. The transplanted hair will initially fall off (shock loss) after 3rd or 4th week. New growth will become notable after 4 to 5 months and it generally takes more than a year before full results can be seen.
