What to Eat For Healthy Hair

hair loss treatments

Just like everything other part of your body, your hair is a reflection of what you eat. In other words, your inside health will reflect on how strong, shiny and thick your hair will look in the long run.

It doesn’t matter how much money you spend at the salon, or how high class your hair dresser’s address is, if you do not eat a well-balanced diet, then your hair will respond in kind and look weak, dry and thin. In order to help you maintain a head of healthy strands, you should start eating the foods on this list, and if you are already filling up on them, then good for you because you are about to see your hair in new light.

Leafy Dark Green Vegetables: They include spinach and kale. These two mega foods are rich in iron, folate, beta carotene and vitamin C, which keep your scalp healthy and hair well moisturized and eliminate brittleness which leads to hair breakage.

Eggs: Most of us are big fans of eggs, especially for breakfast. What you do not know is that eggs also contribute to the growth of your hair. They are rich in protein, iron and a B vitamin known as biotin, which for those who take it as a supplement know it helps your hair grow. Lack of biotin within your body can easily lead to hair breakage, so keep on eating your eggs.

Omega-3 Fatty Acid: These very healthy fats are found in fatty fish like mackerel, sardines and salmon. If you want shiny and well-hydrated hair, we would suggest you make these fish a part of your diet. If you cannot stomach the fish at least three times a week, get on the omega-3 supplements band wagon and within no time, you will end up with longer, shiny and fuller hair.

Lean Meat: Although you can get protein from eggs as mentioned above, we suggest incorporating other sources of protein like lean meats. This includes turkey and chicken. The inclusion of these sources of protein will encourage your hair to grow and put a stop to hair loss at the same time.

Carrots: When mama insisted that you eat your vegetables, she knew what she was talking about. These bright colored veggies are filled with beta carotene which creates vitamin A. You see, vitamin A is crucial for the body to produce sebum, a substance that keeps our hairs and scalps healthy and conditioned. Other sources include sweet potatoes and pumpkins.

There are a lot of other foods out there that play a big role in your hair’s health. If your hair is still falling or thinning even after embarking on a healthy diet, we advise you pay a visit to a specialist, so that he/she can get to the bottom of your hair loss problem.
