In order to counter hair loss, many medications are available. Most commonly used ones are Finasteride and Minoxidil. The former is an oral drug that needs to be taken on a daily basis. It not only improves the health of existing follicles but also helps in regrowth of lost hair in a large number of cases. Minoxidil is a solution applied to the scalp. It works well in stopping hair loss but the regrowth of lost hair is rare. Both these options have their side effects.
Many people using them eventually opt for hair transplants for want of a permanent solution. The most common question they ask is that whether or not they will need to use their hair loss treatments in future or not once they get the transplant. The answer to this question is both Yes and No. Let’s shed some light on this matter to understand better.
Hair loss is most commonly caused by androgenic alopecia which is a genetic condition. It is caused by the presence of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which is a male hormone. The hair transplants are done with hair from the side and the back of the head which have resistance towards the effects of DHT.
The hair are extracted from these donor areas and grafted at the recipient site where small incisions are made for this purpose. Once this is done, the hair grow out in about a year and they do not suffer loss.
Hair loss after a hair transplant can take place. Since it is only the transplanted hair that are resistant to DHT, the normal hair continue to be affected by it. This has no relationship with the hair transplant and it is a completely natural procedure.
The use of hair loss product is not required in the areas where the transplant has been done. However, the other areas of the scalp where the natural hair are present, for ensuring that the hair do not fall, continuing the hair loss treatment is certainly not a bad idea. Consulting with your hair transplant surgeon in this regard is the way forward as he or she can better advise considering your individual requirements.

"I was really pleased with my experience at Dubai Cosmetic Surgery. I had to cancel the first date I booked, because of my daughter, but when I called them the next day, they fit us in that afternoon, which was really good. My mum and I went to a free consultation for Laser Assisted Liposuction, and it went very well. We were really impressed with the doctor, Dr. Juan Tadeo Krogulec - he was lovely. He spent as long as we needed with us, and didn't rush us. He was really thorough and not only did he answer all of our questions, he answered others we hadn't even thought of asking! I think that when the time comes for treatment we'll probably be going with them.".
I am very satisfied with my results. I strongly recommend this clinic for every one who wants great result and its very cheap to :). Dr. Cagtay and his team are very professional and do take care of their patients.".
