How to Cure Hair Dandruff in Winter

hair care tips

Are you fighting an endless and pointless “War against Dandruff”? You are not alone, at least in dry, chilly winter weather. As the temperatures begin to drop and dryness in the atmosphere increases, your skin starts losing its moisture content and scalp skin is no different. This leads to flaky and itchy scalp. But it is not the cold and dry air only that causes dandruff. There are numerous other factors as well that can contribute to those frustrating flakes. But the good news is that it is not something that you can’t prevent or stop. There are dozens of easy, DIY natural remedies that you can follow to prevent this particular type of snow fall during winters.

Listed below are 4 really effective home remedies to cure hair dandruff in winter.

Wash It Away With Vinegar Wash

All that you need is half cup of white vinegar, half cup of white vinegar and a clean bowl. Mix together warm water and vinegar in the bowl and pour the mixture over your head. Scrub your scalp gently for 5 to 7 minutes and then rinse it off thoroughly with plain water. Don’t shampoo your hairs for 8 to 12 hours after the vinegar wash. Repeat this once every week and you will notice significant reduction in dandruff within a few weeks.

Break It Up With Baking Soda

Your kitchen could hold the key to a dandruff free scalp. You can easily find baking soda in your pantry. Take one tablespoon of baking soda and mix it to a cup of warm water. Apply the mixture generously to your hair and head and massage your scalp gently. Keep scrubbing your scalp skin for several minutes and go right to rinsing. No need to shampoo your scalp after baking soda treatment. If you feel you must shampoo your scalp, simply add baking soda to diluted shampoo and use it to wash your head. To enhance the effects of baking soda, you can add a few drops of rosemary oil. Rosemary not only helps fight dandruff but it also has a pleasant scent.

Have Fun with Fenugreek

Fenugreek is an herb used as a spice, especially in Indian cuisine, but it has numerous health benefits as well. This rich in proteins and amino acids herb can help encourage healthy hair growth and fight dandruff. Take two tablespoons full of fenugreek seeds and soak them in two cups of water overnight. The next morning grind the seeds with water to obtain a fine paste. Apply this paste to your scalp and leave it on for 30 to 45 minutes. Rinse the paste off with lukewarm water and wash your hair with a mild shampoo. For best results, you can also add half cup apple cider vinegar to the paste before applying It to the hair.

Fight Dandruff with Neem Leaves

Neem leaves have antifungal and astringent properties, which make it an ideal cure for dandruff caused by fungus. Take two handfuls of neem leaves and soak them overnight in 4 to 5 cups of water. The next morning grind the leaves with the water to get a smooth paste. Apply this paste to your scalp and leave it on for half an hour before rinsing it off with water. If you don’t like the idea of applying messy paste to your scalp, you can use the liquid after staining neem leaves.

Follow these simple cures for dandruff and keep your scalp flake free and itch free this winter.
