Avoiding Caffeine Before a Hair Transplant

Avoiding Caffeine

Hair transplants are the surefire solution for people with extensive hair loss. It is the only solution that provides a permanent fix since transplanted hair do not shed afterwards. In order for the transplant procedure to be successful, there are certain precautions that must be taken. Many of these may be routine matters for us with no real issues under normal circumstances but can have an ill impact in the days around the transplant.

Smoking, massaging of the scalp, applying dyes and gels to the hair are nothing out of the ordinary but should not be done prior to and immediately after the transplant. Consumption of caffeine is also on this list. We shall have a look as to why caffeine should be avoided and how it can have an adverse effect on a hair transplant.

[su_box title=”Caffeine for Hair Transplant Patients” box_color=”#e95b37″]Most people are used to consuming caffeine daily in form of coffee and tea. Others may consume through the various energy drinks that are available in the market. It is a good way to get moving early in the day and can be a help when a person feels lethargic. It is however advised to the hair transplant patients that they do not consume caffeine the day before the surgery as well as on the day of the surgery.[/su_box]

[su_box title=”Why Should Caffeine be Avoided?” box_color=”#e95b37″]Caffeine can be a source of elevating blood pressure which can lead to bleeding during the hair transplant procedure. It can also increase the sensitivity to the medications given to the patient during the hair transplant which can be a problem.[/su_box]

[su_box title=”Does it Affect the Hair Transplant if Consumed?” box_color=”#e95b37″]If a person consumes caffeine through tea or coffee, it can have ill effects on the procedure. However, having a cup may not greatly affect the chances of success of the procedure and results should still be good. Tea has lesser caffeine in it and its potential damage is also less in comparison with coffee. Having too many cups of either though can be a problem.[/su_box]

[su_box title=”Alternative Options” box_color=”#e95b37″]If your cup of tea or coffee is an absolute must, you can go for a decaffeinated option. This way you get your much loved hot beverage in the morning without the caffeine, a win-win situation indeed.[/su_box]
