Alopecia Areata: Learn About Symptoms and Treatment

alopecia

Alopecia areata is an auto immune disorder that results in hair loss. It is often characterized by small asymmetrical patches of baldness throughout the scalp, beard and even eyebrows. Usually prp treatment for hair loss is regarded as the ultimate solution for it. In some patients, it results in few small patches while in other patients, it leads to complete baldness. Let’s look at the causes, symptoms and possible treatments:

Causes

Alopecia areata occurs when white blood cells in our system attacks the hair follicles. It causes hair follicles to shrink and result is slower production of hair. The underlying causes behind this response of immune system are still unknown. However, some studies show that genes are responsible for alopecia areata, while little evidence is found to support the theory.

Symptoms

Before settling on Acell, minoxidil or PRP treatment for hair loss, it is important to determine the symptoms of alopecia areata. The most common symptom is coin sized bald spots. Hair begins to fall out in patches. Beard and eyelashes may also get affected by alopecia areata.

Initial signs of alopecia areata may involve rough nails, white spots on nails, itching or burning sensation in scalp, sudden growth of white hair and hair breakage. Doctors can easily diagnose alopecia areata by looking at the symptoms, once he diagnosis the hair fall condition; he can devise the adequate treatment.

Treatments

PRP treatment for hair loss is the most commonly used treatment for alopecia areata.  Platelet rich plasma treatment helps miniaturized hair follicles to become healthy and promote hair growth. One’s own blood is extracted and after separation of platelet rich plasma, it is injected into the scalp.  Click for information on PRP treatment in dubai.

Alopecia areata can also be treated using corticosteroids. They are strong anti-inflammatory drugs that suppress this particular action of immune systems. However, they shouldn’t be used on your own. Always consult with a doctor before using any kind of drugs for hair loss.

Minoxidil is often prescribed by doctors to treat alopecia areata. Many studies show that minoxidil not only helps in recover hair in bald patches but also prevents formation of new bald patches.
