Natural Treatments for Alopecia Areata In People Younger Than 20

Onion Juice and Aloe Vera picture

There are numerous medicinal treatments for treating this type of hair loss, but harsh chemicals in those medicines can adversely affect the general health of your kid. Treating the problem naturally is the safest bet but for people of all ages, especially young boys and girls who are in their active growth phase – teenage and below. Here we will share with you some time tested natural remedies that people have been using since ages to counter Alopecia Areata. Try them on your patient and see hairs growing back in the bald patches within a couple of months.

Onion Juice:

This is probably the easiest and the cheapest home remedy for treating all types of alopecia. The high sulfur content present in onion juice makes it ideal for treating hair related problems, hair loss in particular. Besides being rich in sulfur, onions also have antiseptic properties that help treat scalp infections by killing the microbes causing them. Extract juice from a freshly chopped medium sized onion and rub it on the scalp of the patient, paying special attention to the bald patches. Wait for half an hour and then wash off using a mild shampoo and normal tap water. For best results, repeat at least thrice a week.

High Silicone Veggies:

Vegetables that have high silicone content – potatoes and peppers – are also often used for treating alopecia areata. Silicone is a naturally occurring mineral that is known to strengthen both nails and hairs. By consuming these vegetables daily, you provide your body a silicone boost, thus making it less susceptible to hair loss problems, including alopecia areata. However, if you or your kid is already suffering from this type of hair loss, topical application may be more effective. Grate one medium sized potato on a cheese grater and squeeze it to get its juice. Apply the juice on to the scalp and wait for 25 to 30 minutes. Wash off with mild shampoo and let hairs air dry. Repeat it 2 to 3 times a week for best results.

Aloe Vera Gel:

Aloe vera gel has countless health benefits. People mostly know its skincare wonders, but only a few know that this herb has the tendency to treat alopecia areata as well. When applied to any part of the body, aloe gel helps stimulate blood circulation. But it is particularly effective in promoting scalp tissue repair and development. Take a fresh aloe leaf and peel off its outer sheath to obtain crystalline aloe gel inside. Generously apply this gel to your scalp and let sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash off after said time and allow your hair to air dry. Repeat this process twice a week.

Green Tea:

Green tea is loaded with antioxidants (catechins and saponins) that work wonders in stimulating regeneration of healthy scalp cells. It also eliminates any free radicals present in your body that may be causing hair loss. Although there is no scientific proof to support this claim, people who have used green tea for treating alopecia areata have given a highly positive feedback. Wondering how to use green tea for promoting hair growth? Brew green tea by soaking two teabags in a cup of boiling water. Let the tea cool to room temperature and then soak a clean cotton ball in it. Wipe or dab bald patches with this cotton.
