For men, hair loss is a universal problem. At some point in time, they inevitably have to face it. It can be as early as teens or as late as in 50’s and 60’s. Often the reason behind this hair loss is what is known as the male pattern baldness. Also known as the androgenic alopecia, both men and women are affected by this condition.
The male pattern baldness starts from the hair around the temple as the hairline slowly recedes. A small bald patch starts developing in the middle of the scalp and slowly the thinning and hair loss continues. Varying with each individual, the complete hair loss can take anything from five to twenty five years.
There is no complete cure for the problem but there are ways in which it can be dealt with in a fairly successful manner. It is important that the care process starts before the issue arises for it to bear fruit. All it takes is a bit more extra care and some small but significant changes to the way of life.
It is important to take the right diet in order to stop male pattern baldness. The diet must include protein and iron and all the necessary vitamins. Vitamin C in particular should be taken regularly. Meats and eggs are a great source of protein and should be useful. However, avoid raw eggs and certain liquid diets as they leave a negative impact on the health of the hair.
Along with the diet, hair care is extremely important as well. Ensure regular use of a good quality shampoo and conditioner in order to keep hair in good shape. Massaging hair with mustard or coconut oils helps as well.
Try to minimize the use of hair dryers and avoid dying your unnecessarily. Never scrub your hair too hard with the towel after a shower and stop combing while your hair are still wet. These small steps will help you in keeping your hair healthy.
Healthy lifestyle for good hair is a must. Exercising regularly and getting good sleep in imperative as it adds to the general health of a person along with reducing stress which has a negative impact on the follicular health.
Generally two medicines are available for the purpose of stopping and sometimes reversing male pattern baldness. Finasteride is an oral medication that is useful in this regard. It has to be taken on a longer term so a doctor should be consulted before its usage.
Minoxidil is another medication which comes in liquid form that can be applied to the scalp. It is an over the counter drug and does not need to be prescribed by a health care professional. Like finasteride, it too has to be used for a longer period of time to give good results.
With a little care, male pattern baldness can be stopped before it starts. Making some changes to your overall lifestyle to achieve that is certainly worth the effort.
